The Revd. Christopher Futcher, B.D., M.Th.

The Rector

Christopher grew up in Bedfordshire, Surrey and Hampshire. He discerned a call to ordination at 16 when he worshipped in Tongham, a small Surrey village beside the Hogsback. He read theology at Edinburgh University and trained for ministry at Westcott House in Cambridge. Before coming to St Nicholas, Harpenden, in November 2000 he worked in Borehamwood, Stevenage and St Albans. Recently he completed a postgraduate degree in Pastoral Theology at London University. He has a long interest and experience in ecumenism and is Diocesan Ecumenical Officer for Hertfordshire.
He is married with two teenage children. He likes to find opportunity to walk the dog, read, and sail.

Revd. Elizabeth Inall

Revd. Elizabeth F. Inall

Curate-in-Charge, All Saints', Batford

A physiotherapist since my student days, married to Brian, mother to Nicola, Julia and Robert, and a grandmother to Harry, Lottie and now Maisie. We lived in Tring, Herts since our marriage, but unexpectedly God called me into ministry. I trained on the St Albans MTS (Ministry Training Scheme), became deacon in 1992 and one of the first women priests in 1994 and served as NSM Assistant Curate in Tring until God called me again. I gave up Physiotherapy and Tring and we moved here in 2001 so I could be Curate-in-Charge at All Saints. I have a particular interest in Spirituality and Worship and I've recently successfully completed an MA degree in Christian Spirituality at Sarum College, Salisbury.

Revd. Jenny Pavyer

Revd. Jenny Pavyer

Curate-in-Charge, St Mary's Kinsbourne Green

Jenny grew up in North London and then Hertfordshire. She went to Exeter University to do a degree in Psychology and then trained as a psychologist in Cambridge and London. At the age of 23 she began to explore a call to ordination. She trained for ministry at Westcott House in Cambridge and then went on to serve her curacy in Stevenage. She came to Harpenden in February 2005 and is about to complete a postgraduate degree in Pastoral Liturgy at London University. She loves walking the dogs, playing sport and reading, along with socialising with friends both near and far.

Revd. Gary Russell

Revd. Gary Russell

Assistant Curate.

Gary and his family joined this parish in 2006. He is married to Bridget and has a son John and a daughter Charlotte plus two dogs. With Christopher, Elizabeth and Jenny also with dogs it appears that the clergy selection criteria has a canine bias! The webmaster awaits an official note for Gary, but take a look at Gary's article in Link magazine for July 2006 (if you can locate this past issue) where you will find out much more about him, his family, dogs and passion for motorbikes.

Gary came to this parish in the summer of 2006 as an ordained Deacon, and was ordained a Priest a year later on 1st July 2007 in St Albans Abbey.

Revd. John Orme

Revd. John Orme

Honorary Assistant Priest

John was born and brought up at Runcorn in Cheshire and did National Service in the R.A.F before training for ordination at Salisbury Theological College. He was ordained in Chester to be curate of St Catherine's, Heald Green from 1960 until 1964. From there he went to Ellesmere Port as Senior Curate and then as Assistant Vicar until 1967.

In 1967 he was appointed whole time Chaplain of Harperbury Hospital, St Albans and in 1973 moved to be Vicar of All Saints with St. Peter, Luton and Chaplain of the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. He was secretary and later, chairman of the Hospital Chaplains' Fellowship and Bishop's Representative for Chaplains in Bedfordshire. Early in 1987 he became Vicar of St. Matthew's, Oxhey and retired to Harpenden at the end of 1996. For about 20 years he served on the Diocesan Adoption Committee and had a long spell on the Diocesan Property Committee and the Board of Patronage.
